Looks alot like summer

Don’t you think?

Lovely ride out today in, as you can see, lovely terrain. Wating for Jenny and Terese to pick me up to go to a horsefeed lecture at the track.

“Space-food”

I’m a bit bad at this whole eat lunch thing so I try to compensate by eating a mealreplacement bar before I ride. Usually they are quite alright but it seems that I, in a hurry, bought one with chocolate and orange flavour.

Not sure I’ll be able to finish it. I tried chewing fast to get rid of it but that nearly had me throw up… Oh joy.

It’s getting close!

On friday me and Garre moves to Västerås! I still can’t belive it. We’re going to have so much fun!

Today, as you can see from the previous post, I actually started packing. Very boring. And I packed way to much, go figure… After that was sort of done I left for the stable where I started of mucking. Then Garre played hard to get out in the pasture … But eventually I outsmarted him – using his will to do as asked – against him and rewarding him as he let me put the halter on.

Once in the saddle we had a great ride out. Main focus was to walk on in walk. When I ride out alone he tends to drag his feet in walk. Another thing we worked on was to slow the pace in trott. He sort of wants to trott real fast while I want him to keep the momentum but gather himself up a bit. By using my voice we eventually did get there. It might seem a small thing but it’s a good preparation for paddock riding where he won’t be able to run all over the place. So after an hour and a half (I walk next to him the last half an hour, so you don’t think I torture the poor horse the whole time) I had a moderately sweaty but clean horse.

Well… He was clean. Before I sponged him off and let him out.

Shortly there after Deedoo followed suit (omg! It’s contagious!).

My least favourite thing

Packing. Doesn’t look so bad on this picture does it?

Give me five minutes and this is how it looks at the moment:

It’s not all black. There’s pink too, and orange. I wont even wear half of what I pack but how will I know which half to leave behind?

Things we do at Stall Södra Valla

Today it was Jennys turn to suddenly get the urge to chase the poor unsuspecting horses. They are a tough crowd… really.

Shiney new shoes

Pedicure time for the hairy ponies today. Me and Jenny pitched in helping the farrier, although I must admit that my effort was fairly useless… I tried though and I did better than last time so that’s something.

I woke up this morning feeling a bit off… Oh, joy. Time for the monthly torture. As I drove to the stable I started feeling rather nauseous. Perfect start of the day.

image

Garres long long leg hair got a comb-over and quite a bit of spray on shampoo to sort it out.

image

It took shy of three hours to get both horses shoed and done. Then it was time for something both Polly & Deedoo knew would not be pleasant: deworming. Garre? He just gulped down the paste while we stood there wondering what happened. Haha. He’s such a weird giant of a horse. After the busy morning I decided to let him have the day off. I was simply feeling to sorry for myself to drag him out for a ride in the cold windy weather.

image

I don’t think he minds one bit. And I’m much happier curled up in bed with my heatblankie on max.

High life!

Behold my fiery steed ready to rush into battle… Actually, he looks more inclined to fall into a heap never to get up again.

image

Garre is not thrilled about the summer heat, that much is evident. But he did wake up once I got in the saddle and we had a pleasant 1.5 hour ride out.

image

A couple of nice, fast, gallops aligned with the setting sun (I could see how we galloped in the shadow that we casted – rather cool!). Garre is really starting to wake up and find his own mind, his own wants. And as it seems what he likes the best is to stretch out in a nice gallop. We’re like made for one another! ♥

But now I must sleep, early date with the farrier tomorrow. Time to get new shoes before we leave to Västerås.
