Since it stopped raining by the time I made it back to Västerås and Garre I decided to take him for a little walk. Åse and Maria accompanied us on horseback.

G seemed happy to get out and took every chance he got to to munch on some grass.

Although it was cold it looked quite summerish.

Putting Garre in the stable next to Valle was as uneventfull as working a regular sunday.

Stage one of today

Garre survived the trailer-ride to Västerås and looked surprised at us when we opened the door.

Unloading was less exciting than loading and soon G was standing on the aisle. It took a little convincing to get him to walk into the stable – there was so much to look at and so many new smells.

Since it’s raining outside G got a blanket on and a pile of hay to munch on out in the field.

Exploring was more interesting than food and us humans.

G seemed quite pleased about life so we left him there in the field and we’re now halfway to Örebro.

After some mane and tailcare it was time to get G ready to go.

Terese braided Garres manes as per my request (so that his neck wont get so warm).

It took us a little effort but we got him on the trailer eventually and now we’re on our way.

The shipping boots were really creepy… Especially the hind leg ones… Garre was so pissed off with them, haha. Poor horse.

It seems climbing and then getting shampooed in the rain (I figured since he was already soaked…) makes Garre a sleepy horse.

I’m quite sleepy myself after a busy day of packing for both myself and the horse. It also requires a bit of planning what with the swapping of cars and all…

Nice and colourful, aint it? Now we just need to hook on the trailer, load the horse, and we’ll be on our way. First a little sleep though.

Rain, rain and even more rain

It’s 19.5 degrees in here. My hands are cold as ice. Outside it’s raining. Oh summer, where did you go? On todays agenda:

Finish packing
Pick up horse feed for Garre + some other necessities
Swap car with little brother
Ride
Pack Garres stuff in the car
Shower the poor horse?

I’m going to start of by having breakfast. Then I’m going to pack all that can be packed and head out to pick up the stuff needed. At 16:30 I’m swapping car with little brother. Then I have to check oil etc. and air pressure of the tyres so that it’s fit for a drive to Västerås and back tomorrow. After that I’m off to spend a couple of hours at the stable and after that it’s probably bedtime for me. We leave at 9 am tomorrow. I suppose now is an ok time to get excited about it??!

So tonight a feed-lecture at the track was on the agenda. With the race horse in focus.

The three of us were all a bit, so? Afterwards. We didn’t learn anything new and the guy holding the lecture just babbled. I suppose that’s what you get for sponsored lectures. In this case it was a maker of horse feed, that’s probably the biggest on the market here, who stood for the lecture. So, what I got out of it?

A bucket! And I’m thrilled because I needed one!

Lovely ride out today in, as you can see, lovely terrain. Wating for Jenny and Terese to pick me up to go to a horsefeed lecture at the track.

I’m a bit bad at this whole eat lunch thing so I try to compensate by eating a mealreplacement bar before I ride. Usually they are quite alright but it seems that I, in a hurry, bought one with chocolate and orange flavour.

Not sure I’ll be able to finish it. I tried chewing fast to get rid of it but that nearly had me throw up… Oh joy.

On friday me and Garre moves to Västerås! I still can’t belive it. We’re going to have so much fun!

Today, as you can see from the previous post, I actually started packing. Very boring. And I packed way to much, go figure… After that was sort of done I left for the stable where I started of mucking. Then Garre played hard to get out in the pasture … But eventually I outsmarted him – using his will to do as asked – against him and rewarding him as he let me put the halter on.

Once in the saddle we had a great ride out. Main focus was to walk on in walk. When I ride out alone he tends to drag his feet in walk. Another thing we worked on was to slow the pace in trott. He sort of wants to trott real fast while I want him to keep the momentum but gather himself up a bit. By using my voice we eventually did get there. It might seem a small thing but it’s a good preparation for paddock riding where he won’t be able to run all over the place. So after an hour and a half (I walk next to him the last half an hour, so you don’t think I torture the poor horse the whole time) I had a moderately sweaty but clean horse.

Well… He was clean. Before I sponged him off and let him out.

Shortly there after Deedoo followed suit (omg! It’s contagious!).
